College Freshmen Create A Scholarship For Their Alma Mater

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERABest friends since second grade, Ashley Gragg and Ajia Richardson have created an annual scholarship,  A-Plus Outreach Scholarship Fund, for Pine Bluff High School (Pine Bluff, AR) graduating seniors. The scholarship’s objective is to provide monetary assistance for two deserving seniors who have been accepted into a four year college or university.

Only college freshmen themselves, Ashley and Ajia both thought it was important to reach back and make a difference now, instead of later. After consulting their parents and Dr. Michael Nellums, Pine Bluff High School’s Principal, the duo moved forward.

The recipients of the very first A-Plus Outreach Scholarship Fund will be announced during Pine Bluff High School’s graduation May 15.  Two (2) $500 scholarships will be awarded to (a male and a female) Pine Bluff High School seniors who have demonstrated academic excellence and community service. “We believe this scholarship will encourage a greater emphasis on academic excellence and community involvement at Pine Bluff High School.”

Although they are not yet established in their own careers does not prevent Ashley and Ajia from supporting the community they love. Recognizing the importance of service and scholarship, they both believe others will be inspired and motivated to achieve more, give back, and reach further.

“Less than a year ago we sat in the same desks of these very seniors, and faced the same fears of paying for college.”

Ashley and Ajia are currently raising funds to back their scholarship, and are inviting those interested in supporting the A-Plus Outreach Scholarship Fund to make a donaiton via GoFundMe.

Thank you in advance!
